Fuel Switch Grants for new Central Heating Systems
A new scheme has been announced to help fund new gas central heating systems for people who live in a house or bungalow and use coal fires or have solid fuel central heating.
The scheme is to help reduce carbon emissions by switching to gas for heating which is much cleaner and cheaper.
A grant of up to £2,400 is available which will probably cover the cost of a new system to people who qualify.
Are you eligible?
If you have a coal fire you will qualify for a grant towards switching to gas.
- If you are not receiving any benefits – you will receive a grant of up to £420
- If you are in receipt of any of the following benefits you should receive a full grant of £2,400 towards the cost of installing new central heating in a house or bungalow.
- State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (income below £16,190)
- Income-based job seekers allowance and parental responsibility for a child under the age of five.
In most instances the grant will
cover the full cost of the system – in effect a free central heating system!
